Who we are:

West Perth Explorer Scout Unit is for anyone aged 14-17, with or without previous experience of scouting.

Where we meet:

Our base is the Scout Hut in the grounds of the Perth Academy, Murray Place, Perth, PH1 1NJ.

We meet on Fridays during term time from 7.30- 9.30 pm

WHAT WE DO:

Explorers are encouraged to decide for themselves -with the support and guidance of Explorer Leaders- what they want to do each term. Our programme covers not just the traditional scouting skills of camping, survival and cooking, but a wide range of other fun activities which have recently included ice skating, scuba diving, debating and cake making.

There are also lots of opportunities to socialise with other Explorer units, which range from attending District and Regional camps throughout Scotland to traveling to International events around the world. You can visit our Facebook page ‘West Perth Explorers’ to see examples of recent camps and events attended.

We also support Explorers undertaking the Chief Scout Awards, in conjunction with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

WHAT’S OUR CATCHMENT AREA:

Explorers come from Perth and the surrounding area, generally within the catchments of Perth Academy, Perth Grammar, High School and Bertha Park School.

SUBSCRIPTION:

Subs are paid via our online system and in advance of each term. This covers ongoing expenses including insurance, badges and hall hire. Off site activities, which include optional camping, events and transport, usually incur an additional cost.
